This is a diagram I created several years ago based on some discussions by Flint McGlaughlin of MECLABS where he discussed prioritizing your content based on three objectives (Primary, Major and Minor) and four questions that visitors ask when visiting a page on your site. I still look to follow these ideas on every page I create. The wire frame displayed is basic but its the concepts you should focus on.
